While the fashion world fixes its gaze on London this week, here at Œ Magazine, we’re looking a bit further ahead with our sights set on Paris. No, I’m not so much relegating my enthusiasm for Thomas TaitChristopher Kane, or Louise Gray as I am a notch more excited for the launch of Berlin Showroom during Paris Fashion Week early next month. With the runway lights dimmed and the hoopla of Berlin Fashion Week behind us, Berlin fashion designers are perhaps more focused now on how to establish, import, or expand their fashion names in other capitals. And what a better place to start than in the neighboring Paris, where fashion week commands the attention of the most important press, buyers, and of course, the ever growing fashion glamourati.

Berlin Showroom is an initiative by the Berlin Foreign Trade Support, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, and executed by the International Design Center Berlin and Arne Eberle Press + Sales. This season, twenty three German designers, emerging and established, will take their labels to the fashion front and present their collection to press and tradesmen in Paris during fashion week.

Some might wonder whether it’s misguided or gimmicky to typecast a diverse group of designers under one umbrella of Berlin creativity. While I’ll readily concede that the term might be limiting and elusive, I still maintain, however, that this is a smart and strategic endeavor to secure the city’s status as a serious fashion destination and to gain recognition for the individual designers who live, work, and present their collections in Berlin. With the attention that the city has garnered in recent years, the designers would be remiss to not capitalize on this hype and interest and they would be further wise to push their names, collectively, in other established fashion realms.

The following is the Berlin Showroom campaign showcasing the twenty three participating labels shot by Amos Fricke, styled by Sebastiano Ragusa, with hair & make-up by Lisa Zeitler. Paris, here’s a taste of what we’re sending your way!
