It’s without doubt that floral motifs have made a mad dash to the forefront of spring fashion trends this year. Many designers have opted out of simple botany prints and instead have chosen to revive and rework the use of floral appliques in intricate ways. Far from the the precious cries of flower girl wedding dresses, the latest floral looks are mature and modern.
(L) This Irene Luft look cascades with texture. Carefully placed flowers simultaneously conceal and reveal parts of the body. (R) This intricately embroidered jacket is one of the reasons why the Achtland‘s SS 2014 collection was considered by many to be the best of Berlin Fashion Week in July.
(L) Schumacher created a straight thinking and mature take on sartorial botany. (R) The deep texture of the floral beading brings a certain glamour to the otherwise sporty nature of this Marni bomber jacket. Marni combined two of spring’s hottest runway trends: florals and monochroming.
(L) Ann Demeulemeester breaks out with floral embroidery in its signature black. In Demeulemeester fashion, the designer manages to celebrate the floral trend without inviting any of its overtly feminine connotations. (R) Fresh, fleshy, and flirty. This cropped camisole from Alberta Ferretti‘s SS 2014 collection, injects a dose flower child radiance to an already vibrant collection.
(L) Simple, sheer, and chic. A lovely layering piece from Kaviar Gauche for those brave enough to bare it all. (R) There is something utterly precious about florals set against easter colored garments. Matched with simple and mature cuts, this look from Sister by Sibling is a winning one.
