If we go back to the very beginning of the 20th century, instances show that pink or blue weren’t yet associated with one gender or the other. Then decades of research trying to figure out whether this phenomenon was related to our genes have never been able to prove any correlations. The United States seems most likely at the source of what we can call a clever marketing idea, one which has spread across the world and shaped our perception of both colors.
So what becomes of the modern man when he wears this ‘female’ color out? We can agree on the fact that, if not done subtly, it can easily get tacky or obnoxious. For several seasons now, we have seen the “men in pink” trend emerge both on runways and streets in various combinations. We’re talking everything from full throttle pink on pink to the more subtle details. We are, in fact, thrilled to see men shed the dated preconceptions of this color and own the bold look.
