Men’s fashion was never a big topic in the Berlin Fashion Week scene for me, but with upcoming menswear designers such as IVANMAN, Hien Le, SOPOPULAR and Sissi Goetze rising to prominence in recent years, I was pulled into it and couldn’t stop watching. These along with other menswear labels from Berlin are seriously redefining men’s fashion in Germany. The exciting play between fabrics, gender and iconic pieces is what makes us so excited what’s happening and what’s to come.
Under the name “X”, Designer Daniel Blechman showed his 10th anniversary collection for SOPOPULAR. His AW 14/15 collection was a recap of his work from the past 10 years, allowing us to review his iconic pieces, updated to fit with contemporary style. Without losing his signature, Blechman showed 18 looks that resembled his favorite pieces with his models marching down the stage runway like warriors. Outspoken leather pieces, such as harness belts, cuffs and braces were designed by Marina Hoermanseder exclusively for SOPOPULAR, completing a collection that was as tough as it was elegant.
The collection stuck to the label’s roots with diagonal zippers in a classic button ups, with outwear in black, burgundy, and grey completing the basic core of the looks.
