Over the past few years, our team has been closely connected with the burgeoning Tunisian fashion scene, attending multiple fashion weeks and observing the country’s unique style evolution. One of the brightest talents we’ve had the privilege of working with is Yassin Walhezi. Known for his presence both on and off the runway, the 21 years old creative has recently taken a bold step, launching his own brand, Walyase.

Yassin Walhezi, who has frequently been dubbed the “little prince of fashion” after our editorial from last summer titled Petit Prince, exemplifies the transition from model to designer with grace and confidence. His brand Walyase, a short merged form of his name, made its first runway appearance recently, signaling the rise of a new voice in Tunisian fashion. The show, held in the capital, was much more than just a fashion display; it was a fusion of art, theater, and personal storytelling.

The brand pushes beyond conventional fashion boundaries, combining elements of theater and visual artistry. The models who walked for Walyase were not merely presenting clothes—they embodied the deeper meaning of light overcoming darkness, symbolized by the recurring motif of a white flower blooming in dark settings.

Originally conceived as a portfolio project for a prestigious fashion school, Walyase evolved into something much more—a platform for young, talented Tunisians to shine on an stage. Yassin’s ability to channel his personal challenges and experiences into this collection reflects his philosophy of perseverance and transformation, a white flower flourishing amidst the shadows.

The show itself was a collaborative work, featuring the contributions of many local talents. Director Nadia Bousetta infused the event with a theatrical flair, while Karima Riahi oversaw the models with expert precision. The stunning makeup looks were crafted by young artists Mohamed Ben Gharssa, Farah Zine El Abidine, and Ines Essid. Studio.B03, helmed by Wissem Soyah and his sister Inès, offered crucial support throughout the production.

Opening with an evocative performance by opera singer Khouloud Zalfeni and dancer Asma Zarrouk, the show blended multiple art forms seamlessly. The lighting design by Badii Mrah, and the dynamic soundscape created by DJ Mazen May and the Makemusic team, further elevated the visual experience.

Behind the scenes, the production team, including Sabra Achour, Oussema Ayari, Alle Ouelhazi and Wafe Hajji, ensured the show ran smoothly, transforming Yassin’s bold vision into reality.

The debut of Walyase was not just a milestone for Yassin, but a celebration of Tunisian creativity, resilience, and talent. Through the lens of his personal journey, Yassin has shown that even in the darkest times, beauty can bloom—like a white flower in the dark.
