Dawid Tomaszewski

A Dawid Tomaszewski runway show is a safe fashion week bet. When new names increasingly populate our week’s schedule, we can always count on the label to deliver an exceptional collection.

For AW 14/15, Tomaszewski mixed his signature blend of glamour with structured cuts and armored outerwear in muted shades of grey and black. While Tomaszewski is one of the few Berlin designers capable of executing the full blown satin gown look, his talents tend to shine in surprising pieces like the sculptural feathered coat and organza embroidery–this season’s standout looks. With autumn leaves strewn across the runway and the title “Heavenly Bodies”, the collection unveiled Tomaszewski’s tougher edge. Structured coats with Swarovski encrusted sword knots punctuated a lineup of cavernous satin gowns and filmy dresses, bringing a strapping military formality and pomp to the assembly of soft flowing frocks and statement fur. His AW 14/15 collection unfurled as the second half to last winter’s story, when models stepped out in black latex coats, Swarovski beaded opera gloves, and thick armored belts. The designer has a very distinct vision of the modern woman’s uniform and as the seasons unfold, it becomes clear that the formula calls for lots glamour, some mystery, and a bit of might.
