This week’s photographer to watch, Amanda Camenisch, is a talent in the rough we’ve been keeping our eyes on for a while now. The London-based photographer regularly shoots campaigns for designer Julian Zigerli and travels back and forth between her hometown, Zurich, and London working alongside publications such as Dazed & Confused, Metal, Tank and of course Œ.
Her fashion stories are instantly recognizable through their play with colors and black and white imagery. Amanda successfully creates a poetic atmosphere, associating the shoot with photographic art without distancing it from fashion. The dim lighting style of the photographs subdues the intense color palette she works with, adding a gem-like filter to the bright hues.
A feeling of intimacy is evoked in her shots, capturing off-camera moments that produce narrative impressions. We definitely think Amanda is a front-runner when it comes to this soft and non-glossy approach to photographing. Her campaign for Julian Zigerli’s latest collection will soon be available once the collection hits stores this month. We can’t wait!
